In order to restrict the worship and make it exclusively for Allaah , the pronoun is placed in front of the verb. PowerPoint Presentation : Quraan 101 – 2 11 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! All of the aayaat of S ooratul-Faati h ah are important for the sustenance of our hearts and fulfilling our spiritual needs. It is the best soorah of the Qur’aan according to a h adeeth of the Prophet ﷺ However, in the sitting we will try to understand the following aayaat : اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ﴿٦﴾ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ ﴿٧﴾ Guide us to the Straight Path, [6] The path of those upon whom You have bestowed (Your) favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray .[7] This s oorah has been made obligatory upon us to recite and it contains this very powerful du`aa that is a request for our most important need – in this world and the Hereafter; it is an important du`aa that needs us to ponder over. Sooratul-Faati h ah Tafseer of the Last Two Aayaat

PowerPoint Presentation : Understanding the Last set of Aayaat Quraan 101 – 2 12 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! 1 st - We are asking for guidance (which is our most important need) - but to what? 2 nd - to the Straight Path . What is it? 3 rd Allaah not only tells us what it is, but explains precisely what it is (so that no one would have an excuse): “The Path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your Favor” – This part of the Aayah defines the meaning of the Straight Path that we must be upon. “Not the path of those who earn Your Anger, nor of those who are astray.” – While this part specifies the path that we must avoid (in order to be on the straight path). In Tafseer ibn Katheer , صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ “Those upon whom You (Allaah) have bestowed Your Favor” is explained beautifully in Soorah An- Nisaa ' by Allaah, the Most Merciful, who said: Sooratul-Faati h ah وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّـهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَـٰئِكَ رَفِيقًا ﴿٦٩﴾ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَضْلُ مِنَ اللَّـهِ  وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّـهِ عَلِيمًا ﴿٧٠﴾ And whoever obeys Allaah and the Messenger, then those are with those who Allaah has bestowed favor upon them, from (amongst) the Prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. That Grace is from Allaah… (An- Nisaa ’ 4:69-70).

PowerPoint Presentation : Quraan 101 – 2 13 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! And whoever obeys Allaah and the Messenger, then those are with those who Allaah has bestowed favor upon them, from (amongst) the Prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. That Grace is from Allaah… (An- Nisaa ’ 4:69-70) To be on the path of those who are blessed by Allaah (which is in reality, the path of guidance) one MUST obey Allaah and His Messenger ﷺ . Those who Allaah blessed (i.e. those on true guidance) are: (1) the Prophets, (2) the affirmers of truth, (3) the martyrs and (4) the righteous – and Allaah, the Gracious then says And excellent are those as companions (i.e. what good company – everyone should want to be with them ). The guidance also demands that one keeps away from (the paths of misguidance) : (1) Those whom Allaah is angry with (the Jews) and (2) those who went astray (the Christians). The Jews had knowledge, but did not act upon it . The Christians acted without knowledge. So the Straight Path is the one that is founded upon knowledge which is acted upon i.e. being obedient to Allaah Ta’Aalaa and His Messenger ﷺ . To be given the guidance and so be from amongst those 4 categories is a Grace from Allaah.
