Entities and Attributes : Entities and Attributes Lesson1 includes the following sections : (Theory) Data, DBMS, RDBMS, OORDBMS, Oracle Database Objects, Entity, Instance, Class, Attribute, Schema Structure Query Language Revision At the completion of this lesson you will be able to : (Practical) Create the Entities, attributes, and relationships in entity relationship diagram Objectives Lesson 1

Oracle Database – Data, Database, and information : Oracle Database – Data, Database, and information Data :: Raw fact collected from different places represented by character, number, picture, object and so on. e.g. 45, Jenny, A, 3 etc. Database :: A  database  is an organized collection of data. Result sheet, Salary Sheet Information :: When data will be processed , by manual or computerized, gives the meaning or sense, is said as information. e.g. Knowledge :: Knowledge  is a familiarity, awareness or understanding of something else, like facts, information , descriptions, or skills, which is acquired through experience   or education by   perceiving , discovering, or learning. Knowledge can refer to a theoretical or practical understanding of a subject .

Oracle Database – DBMS and RDBMS : Oracle Database – DBMS and RDBMS DBMS :: A database management system (DBMS) is a software package designed to define, manipulate, retrieve and manage data in a database . e.g. FoxPro, dBase RDBMS :: A  relational database management system (RDBMS) is a database management system (DBMS) that is based on the relational model and lets you create, update, and administer a relational database, as invented by E. F. Codd , of IBM's San Jose Research Laboratory . MS Access, SQL

Oracle Database – OORDBMS, Oracle Database : Oracle Database – OORDBMS, Oracle Database OORDBMS :: An object oriented relational database management system  ( OORDBMS ), is a database management system (DBMS) similar to a relational database, but with an object-oriented database model: objects, classes and inheritance are directly supported in database schemas and in the query language . Oracle Oracle Database   :: RDBMS  or simply as  Oracle is an object-relational database management system

Oracle Database – Revision : Oracle Database – Revision DBMS : row, column, Table RDBMS : Field, Record, Relationship OORDBMS : Entity, Attribute , Relation

Oracle Database – Object : Oracle Database – Object Object :: In relational database management, an object can be a table or column, or an association between data and a database entity   In object-oriented programming paradigm , " object" refers to a particular instance of a class where the object can be a combination of variables, functions, and data structures. A n   object  is a location in memory having a value and possibly referenced by an identifier.

Oracle Database – Entity : Oracle Database – Entity Entity:: In relational database management, an object can be a table or column, or an association between data and a database entity   In object-oriented programming paradigm , " object" refers to a particular instance of a class where the object can be a combination of variables, functions, and data structures. A n   object  is a location in memory having a value and possibly referenced by an identifier . Oracle Database – Instance, Class : Oracle Database – Instance, Class Instance:: In object-oriented programming (OOP), an  instance  is a specific realization of any object. Formally "instance" is synonymous with "object", as they are each a particular value (realization), and these may be called an  instance object ; "instance" emphasizes the distinct identity of the object.   Class:: In  object-oriented programming, a  class  is an extensible program-code-template for creating objects, providing initial values for state (member variables) and implementations of behavior (member functions, methods)

Oracle Database – Attribute, Schema : Oracle Database – Attribute, Schema Attribute:: A single data item related to a database object. The database schema associates one or more attributes with each database entity . an attribute refers to a database component, such a table. It also may refer to a database field. Attributes describe the instances in the row of a database. Schema:: Schema is the structure of data, whereas the Data are the "facts". Schema can be indicates the rules which the Data must obey and refers to the organization of data as a design of how a database  is constructed.

Lesson Review : Lesson Review List components of DBMS. Explain about Schema. Describe the user types used in DBMS. Differentiate between Primary key and Foreign key.
