Course Description

Dede Rittman will present highlights and nuggets of wisdom from her award-winning book, Student Teaching: The Inside Scoop from a Master Teacher. Dede will discuss topics that all teachers need to know, but that are not really taught in college, like developing your “teacher voice” and how and when to use that voice; reading students’ body language, as well as making sure that your body language is saying what you want it to say; getting yourself and your students organized; dressing for success and minding your manners; dealing with administrators and parents; discipline and classroom management skills; developing your teacher style; getting involved with activities at your school; and many other subjects. Dede will also discuss her Three C’s of Classroom Success: Confidence, Communication, and Creativity, essentials for every classroom teacher. Dede is eager to share her story, some humorous and poignant classroom anecdotes, and her love of education with the audience.
