About
Matthew T. Noble
I've been in ELT for 10 years now. I started in Sri Lanka as a volunteer teacher at an ancient Hindu/Buddhist temple complex where I taught young orphan novice monks. After surviving the 2004 tsunami and doing 3 months of relief work I moved to Thailand where I completed my CELTA and got "serious" about teaching English.
I sought out all the PD I could find (it wasn't that much!) in Thailand during the 7 years I taught there. I came to find that the internet, along my own reading/research, was the best avenue for continuing professional/self-development. Since then I've worked in ESOL here in Massachusetts as an advisor, instructor, and curriculum developer, earned my MA in TESOL, taught a few online (partially using WizIQ!) and F2F TESOL courses, gleefully attended the TESOL convention every year, and joined a vibrant connected community of teachers and trainers online (including the amazing International Teacher Development Institute!).
As a full time CELTA trainer I deliver the syllabus content while focusing on the holistic development of reflective reasoning skills new English teachers can use as a foundation for building their student-centered practice. We all need to find *real fulfillment* in teaching; it's a "job" that, ideally, also functions as a career-long "learning adventure". I'm thrilled to be here sharing the adventure with you!
