Slide 2 : This program has been designed to allow students the opportunity to pursue Canadian post secondary programs while living in their country of origin.
BACKGROUND : BACKGROUND This program is offered by Maple Care, as sole representative for whole Indian Territory and in association of one of the top notch Consultant from Canada, which has been facilitating distance education programs of study to students provincially, nationally, and internationally for more than 10 years. Students who obtain certificates and or diplomas have full access to post secondary options both within Canada and abroad.
Slide 4 : International students are welcome to register with the Learning Centre. An international student is defined as a non-Canadian resident. A cousellor will be assigned to assist all international students who are accepted.

Slide 6 : English Proficiency Requirements
Students may be required to provide proof of English proficiency appropriate to their level of study. It is assumed that students have Grade 10 English or equivalent for courses requiring no formal prerequisites.
Credit Courses
Credit courses require that students complete all mandatory coursework, including assignments and the final examination or project. Full tutorial support throughout the duration of the course is provided for all credit courses through Canadian instructors or Nationals trained by Canadian Consultant.
Slide 7 : Course Packages
Course packages include all the required texts and course materials unless otherwise noted. Students also receive information about their program counselor.
Normally, students receive their course package by courier within two weeks of registering in courses with continuous registration. For courses with fixed start dates, normally, students receive their packages by courier no later than two weeks before the course start date.
Your course package will consist of the following items

An enrollment card (for instructors and counselors)
First set of module booklets
Text books (if required for module section)

Slide 8 : Independent Study with Tutor Support
Courses are offered as independent-study courses supported by Canadian Instructors. Students complete courses by studying with this support. Students can communicate with their instructor/counselor by email, phone, or regular mail for most courses and also by electronic conference for paced courses.
Continuous Course Registration
Courses are offered on a continuous basis, so students may register throughout the year.
Labs, clinical, selected classroom offerings, and some paced courses have fixed start dates.
Slide 9 : Varied Course Delivery Formats
Courses are offered in the following formats:
Print-based. Course is print-based. Some print-based courses may have optional Web content and/or Web interaction. Internet access is not required to complete the course.
Web-based. Course is Web-based. Most Web-based courses have some printed materials. All Web-based courses have mandatory Web content, and most have Web student-to-student interaction. Internet access is required to complete the course.
In-person. Course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting or as a lab, clinical, workshop, or fieldwork.
Not all delivery formats are offered for each course.
Course materials may include audiocassettes, CDs, DVDs,
videos, or computer disks.
Slide 10 : Flexible Course Scheduling
Courses are designed for students to complete within a specified time frame at a place and pace that suit their needs. It is intended that the host organization will provide the necessary infrastructure for the student to complete the course work in a timely manner.
Some print-based and Web-based courses are offered as paced where a group of students work through the course together. Paced courses have specific start and end dates. Students start the course at the same time, submit assignments (and project examinations when appropriate) by specific due date, and write their final examination at a pre-determined session. Extensions are limited and granted only for exceptional circumstances.

Courses that have rental materials (equipment and audiovisual components) are not available to students residing outside Canada. It is the responsibility of the host institution to provide materials of this nature
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION : INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION
Slide 13 : International Students
An international student is defined as a person (a) who does not possess Canadian citizenship, or (b) who is not classified as a permanent resident of Canada under Canadian immigration regulations.
Courses
All courses are broken down into a modular format. Each module contains a specific subject area in which the student is required to learn. On completion of a subject area the student moves on to a new module, which contains different subject material, and is required for completion. Modules are designed to be completed in a self-paced manner, and include assignments per each lesson. Students are encouraged to review their assignments prior to registering for their module completion exam. Each module will have a module completion exam, which will be submitted to and marked by the institution.
Slide 14 : Module Completion Exam
Once a student has completed their module and all assignments within, they can prepare to write the end of module exam. In order to write the module exam the student must submit the module exam form to their program counselor. This form may be faxed or emailed to the counselor. Once the form has been received in the Life Long Ed office the test will be sent to the student’s invigilator for writing or sent to the Life Long Ed office in Surrey BC Canada where the student can write the supervised exam. All module exams must be written under the supervision of an exam invigilator.
Rented Materials:
Courses that have specified returnable materials (e.g., equipment and videos) require a deposit to be paid at registration. The deposit is refunded (less the rental fee and any deduction for damaged or missing items) on return of the materials in good condition in the original packing. Materials for which students have paid a deposit remain the property of the institution. Students who fail to return rented materials do not receive the deposit refund.
Slide 15 : Long-distance Phone Charges
Students residing in Canada may access phone services toll-free, including tutorial services, educational advising, registration, records, examinations, library, disability services, and technical support.
Students residing outside Canada are required to pay for all long-distance phone charges for the above services, technical support and administrative services, and mandatory teleconferences in courses.
Assignment Submissions
All students in all distance courses are responsible for the cost of submitting assignments for grading.
Special Arrangements
If special arrangements are required because of a disability, applicants should submit a written request to the Disability Services Office, including relevant medical documentation, a minimum of ten weeks prior to the course start date or earlier for complex arrangements (some arrangements can take a minimum of sixteen weeks).
COURSE PREREQUSITITS : COURSE PREREQUSITITS Course prerequisites for courses delivered are specified in the individual course descriptions. Students are not required to submit transcripts in order to register in a course that has prerequisites.
When registering for courses, students are required to declare that they have met the formal or equivalent prerequisites. Students who provide a false declaration may be subject to penalties under the student conduct policy.

Slide 18 : Registration
On receiving the student’s application and payment the following steps will be taken:
a) Applications will be processed within Canada
b) Students’ transcripts (if applicable) will be reviewed to determine educational status
c) English proficiency status will be determined
d) On confirmation of English proficiency, the appropriate 1st courses will be selected
f) Student’s will receive notification of their acceptance status
g) Students will receive module one of their course packages and begin their course.
Slide 19 : Course completion
Students will have the support of their program counselor and instructor while completing their modules.
All modules contain the necessary reading material and assignments, which allow the student to actively monitor their progress, and understanding of the course material. Students may email their instructor at any time to obtain clarification or additional information, which supports the learning process.
Students may submit their assignment packages whenever they choose to do so.
Depending on the course selected, the student will be required to complete 3 or more modules. On completion of each module, the student will be required to complete a module exam, which will be graded by the institution.
Slide 20 : Where required, the student may have to complete a practical component of their program, which may require “in person instruction”. All practical components will take place in the student’s last module and will be a requirement for successful completion. Practical learning environments will take place at the location of the institution.
Final exams may be written which may be offered by an organization separate from the institution. Additionally, students may have the option of writing an exam separate from the institution, which will enhance the student’s employability. Counselors will be available to assist students with information and preparation should their program consists of these options.
Slide 21 : Distance Education Completion Chart
At the back of this booklet the student will find a Distance Education Completion Chart, which indicates the number of modules required to complete in order to obtain certification. The institution strongly encourages students to utilize this document, as it will prove to be a valuable resource in monitoring ones progress while setting realistic goals for completion. Students are also encouraged to discuss this document with their counselor as they move through completing their course.
This document allows the student to identify the major areas of study, which are broken down into different modules. Additionally, students can start to gauge when they feel they will be ready to write their module exams and eventually their final exam.
Slide 22 : Distance Education Resource Ordering Form
Also included in the back of this booklet is the ordering form which student ‘s must use in order to schedule their module tests, final exams, practical classes and practicum along with additional student services activities provided by the institution. Students are given a multiple of options for how they wish to submit this order form.
Students residing out side of Canada should note that delivery times for resources will take approximately 10 to 12 days for arrival at the location of their invigilator. Students should contact the program counselor regarding issues of testing and suitability of testing invigilation sites.
Additionally student may contact the employment counselor at any time regarding questions pertaining to employment and employment preparation assistance.

Career Development Assistance : Career Development Assistance All programs are designed to give students an opportunity to gain Canadian Based skills in order to locate and employment opportunities within Canada. All graduates of these programs will be automatically enrolled in the Employment assistance program which will conduct the following support for students:
Upon completion each student will be assigned an employment counsellor who will conduct a thorough review of each student’s resume and edit it so as to present their newly acquired skills and qualifications to employers from a Canadian perspective.
We will also conduct an online interview session with you to make sure students feel comfortable with responding to interview questions. These will be conducted in a few ways; we run webinars which involve all the key preparations areas for successfully accessing the Canadian labour market. Students will be invited to attend any which they feel would be of interest to them.
Slide 26 : Students will be taught and guided through the process of creating a video resume. Many of the employers we work with love it as it gives them a chance to see the applicant which in Canada is very important to the process of looking for work. On completion, students video resumes will be uploaded to the employer view website where employers will be able to review applicants. Through their employment counsellor students will have full support with the development of their scripts and assistance in creating the video resume.
Once the student’s resume and video resume is complete and we feel that they will be comfortable speaking with employers we will begin the process of referring students to our employer data base while continuing to provide coaching and support to in the process of speaking to employers about working for them.
We will also act on student’s behalf in talking to employers and will act as their contact as many of the employers will want to speak with someone with respect to verifying their skills and credentials.
Continued Education : Continued Education As the course in the program are fully accredited many students move to Canada to continue their studies. The counsellors will provide assistance to these students in the following manner:
The counsellor will review the student’s transcripts and academic profile and will provide a recommendation list of institutions for the student to consider.
The counsellor will assist the student in choosing a specific course for study which will be consistent with the educational goals of the student.
The counsellor will contact the school or choice and will begin the process of enrolling the student in the program of choice
The counsellor will complete an individual education plan for the student.
Upon arrival in Canada and commencement of studies the student will be enrolled in the employment program assisting the student with securing employment so as to supplement their income while attending full time studies.
