A free client program called the Viewer  enables its users, called Residents, to interact with each other through  avatars.[1] Residents can explore, meet other residents, socialize,  participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade  virtual property and services with one another, or travel throughout the  world (which residents refer to as "the grid"). During a 2001 meeting with investors, Rosedale noticed that the  participants were particularly responsive to the collaborative, creative  potential of Second Life. As a result the initial objective-driven,  gaming focus of Second Life was shifted to a more user-created,  community-driven experience. SLOODLE SLOODLE is  a free and open source project which integrates the multi-user virtual  environment of Second Life® with the Moodle® learning-management system.
