Moses passed on and God made Joshua Israel's new leader. 1. Why? Because the Lord said so, see verse 22. God told him to "go" as Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19a. Did you obey your divine calling?b. You will have spiritual progress, graduate from milk to meat.B. The Promised Land1. Sometimes you can lead a congregation up to a point and God can putanother in your place to finish the job. Ram in the bush.a. Moses never saw the Promised Land.II. Israel's divine inheritanceA. Assigned to them in verse 3. "Every place that the sole of your foot should treadupon".....1. Actually..that's the entire Earth! Israel is in America, Russia, Germany,etc. People think that all Israel owns is a tiny piece of land.B. God assigns a "home base" for Israel *(vs 4)1. From Lebanon, Euphrates to the Land of the Hittites, the Great Sea.C. God assigns a Great Presence over Joshua, *(verse5) 1. The Presence of Courage, the presence of strength.a. Do you excercise yours? Have you rejected it?b. God shows constancy with Joshua. He won't leave you either.D. God encourages *(verse 6-8)1. "Be strong and of good courage.2. Notice in verse 7 He says not only to be courageous but VERY courageous.a. Take chances, explore.b. Be like a toddler who knows his daddy is behind him and will catch him if he should fall. 3. Verse 7 says for us to be straightforward and not beat around the bush.Israel has already done that for 40 years. 40 years was enough. E. Abundance and Prosperity *(verses 8-9)1. Obey God's lays and you will prosper2. The Word is Wisdom3. Focus on it no matter what your surroundings are4. The Word will give you GOOD SUCCESS.5. Fear not, be strong, unmovable, unshakeable. Be not dismayed/surprised.6. Know that God is always with you. Easy to say but hard to do in real life unless you simply let go and let God. Just do it!*end
