Neki Ki Haqeeqat : Neki Ki Haqeeqat Reality of Piety
Ayatul Birr 2:177 : Ayatul Birr 2:177
Translation : Translation 2:177 True piety does not consist in turning your faces towards the east or the west - but truly pious is he who believes in God, and the Last Day; and the angels, and revelation, and the prophets; and spends his substance - however much he himself may cherish - it - upon his near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and the beggars, and for the freeing of human beings from bondage; and is constant in prayer, and renders the purifying dues; and [truly pious are] they who keep their promises whenever they promise, and are patient in misfortune and hardship and in time of peril: it is they that have proved themselves true, and it is they, they who are conscious of God.
Meaning of : : Meaning of : Derived from the root words
Another word derived from it is
The difference between بحر and بَر is imminent. One is unstable the other is stable.
Similarly بِر is something that gives peace of mind, that takes the guilt away, that soothes the heart.
Background : Background Every Human thinks that he has one or the other kind of Neki or Bir in him. Irrespective of whether is he is good or bad.
Thus one will find people involved in pick pocketing, Stealing, prostitution but they try to convince themselves that they posses some good quality.
Background (contd..) : Background (contd..) There are some people who are very particular about Salah, Zakat, Hajj, Umrah etc.
But at the same time these people are involved in all types of Haram activities.
For example : They are involved in Riba, Bribing, frauds, selling duplicate goods etc.
The two faces of Birr : The two faces of Birr Birr that is Zahir.
Birr that is inside or hidden.
لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَـكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ : لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَـكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ Allah starts the Ayah mention the real Bir (neki) is not JUST …something that is Zahir.
Allah explains the real neki after that.

Here the Neki of Humdardi is mentioned before Salah.
What are the differences between “Pillars of Islam” and Qualities of Neki.
Slide 20 : The Qualities of Neki has to have the same order the way it is mentioned here.
A person can be a Muslim, a Aalim, a Mufti. But not necessarily he can be a pious Muslim if he misses any of these qualities of Neki.

3:92 Never shall you attain to true piety unless you spend on others out of what you cherish yourselves; and whatever you spend - verily, God has full knowledge thereof
Priorities in Charity : Priorities in Charity The order of “Insani Humdardi” mentioned here is :-
First for The near ones i.e. relatives.
For yateem i.e. Orphans
For Masakeen.
Priorities in Charity : Priorities in Charity Meaning of :
means “Kam Himmati”
i.e. the one whose Himmat has given up.
The one who cannot stand on their own legs.
The one is not self contained.

Priorities in Charity : Priorities in Charity The one who is in the state of journey.

Make a note that this is not Zakah rather it is a Nafili Sadaqah.
Merely providing used clothes or the discarded commodities to such needy people is not .

While Zakah being compulsory acts like a law of “static friction”. Once the Zakah rolls out the Extra charity becomes easy for a person.

The day today life is based on such contracts and agreements.
Fulfilling these contracts is liable for every person to acquire Bir.
In contrast it is found that breaking the Ahad has become the part of our lives.

Slide 32 : The people whose mind and hearts are filled with Imaan, Who have the urge to serve the needy, who establish Salah and Zakah, Who are particular in keeping and maintaining the treaty such people’s struggle can ONLY be there to establish the truth in this World

Conclusion : Conclusion These are the people who are Truthful and are Muttaqi.
Thus we establish here that this Ayah elaborates all the four qualities that appeared in Surah Al Asr.
