Slide 1 : ”A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter " wikipedia

Introduction : Introduction Stereotypes prevent us us from understanding people who are different from us . If you use stereotypes you will not understand other social groups . Unfortunately , many stereotypes are inaccurate. You are an anthropologist making a research on stereotypes people have on different cultures . Your mission is to find out some stereotypes on three ethnic or religious groups then justify why they are false beliefs about them .

Tasks : Tasks Task1 : Copy the chart at the following slide into your notebook and classify the stereotypes you collected into the indicated categories Task 2 :Try to discover the inaccuracies of each of these categories of stereotypes Task 3 :Use your insight as an anthropologist to tell the world about the dangers of each category of stereotypes and its negative effect on cross-cultural understanding . Task 4 : Present your search and findings to the class in a powerpoint presentation .
