Introduction : Introduction Translation or language class In a language class, student learn the four language skills (listeningm speaking, reading, and writing) and express himself effictively in two languages. In translation class, student learn the interlingual skills (transfer strategies between two languages) and express what others want to say in another language.

Steps for good translation : Steps for good translation Read the whole text analytically several timesin order to: Know what it is about Understand the grammatical relationships emplyed divide the text into major thoughts units Subdivide the major thought units into smaller ones, and so on, until you reach the unseparable collocations

Steps for good translation : Steps for good translation 4) Get out the context-free words and look them up in the right dictionary 5) Check the dictionary for the right collocations. Do not forget to consult a thesaurus. 6) Read the text again to se the inter-sentence connectors you need to provide in translation into Arabic, and which sentence divisions you want to make in translation into English. 7) Start translation sentence by sentence to make sure you will choose the right syntactic equivalent

Steps for good translation : Steps for good translation 8) Having finished your translation read again for revision to make sure you have not left anything untranslated 9) Put the SL aside and read the TL rendering alone to edit it yourself to guarantee smoothness and natural compsition. NB. It is advisable that you allow an apprpriate time space between step 8 and step 9.
