PARTS OF SPEECHWords are divided into eight classes according to the work they do in a sentence.(1)Noun (2) Pronoun (3) Verb (4) Adjective (5) Adverb (6) Preposition (7) Conjunction (8) Interjection.Since these classes of words are used to form all kinds of speech, they are called Parts of Speech.A Noun is a word used as a name of a person, place or thingExamples:-1. Mary wants to teach you.2. The rose has thorns. 2) A Pronoun is a word used for a noun. Examples:-She wants to teach you.The rose has thorns, but it smells good. 3) An Adjective is a word used to qualify a noun or pronoun, that is, to add something to the meaning of a noun or pronoun. Examples:-It is a big house.He is tall.4) A Verb is used to denote an action or a state.Examples:-The girl wrote a letter.Iron is a useful metal. 5) An Adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of the verb, an adjective or another adverb. Example:-He worked the sum quickly.She pronounced the word quite correctly.6) A Preposition is a word used with a noun or a pronoun to show how the person or thing denoted by the noun or pronoun stands in relation to something else. Example:There is a cow in the garden.The girl is fond of music.7) A Conjunction is a word used to join words or sentences.Example:Two and two make four.I ran fast, but missed the train.8) An Interjection is a word used to express some sudden feeling. Example:Hurrah! we have won the match.Alas! She is dead.
