Be -Affirmative And Negative Contractions A contraction is 2 words that are put together with an apostrophe. Make an affirmative contraction with a pronoun and be ( am, is, are). Put together the pronoun and be (am, is, are) . I am = Iam Take out the first letter of be (am, is, are). Iam = Im Put in an apostrophe. Im = I’m Use a contraction when speaking. Use a contraction with informal writing. I’m young. I’m young. I’m young You’re young. He’s young. She’s young. It’s young. We’re young. They’re young. Put together the pronoun and be (am, is, are). She is = Sheis Take out the first letter of be (am, is, are). Sheis = Shes Put in an apostrophe. Shes = She’s Put not behind be (am, is, are).
