Stress Less in the Workplace : Stress Less in the Workplace Or Workstation Vacation

Stress : Stress The Cause of 60-80% of all disease Aggravating factor in many preexisting diseases such as diabetes, and hypertension Muscles Contract causing pain Reduce blood flow to brain – lack of concentration… Stress BAD

Workstation : Workstation Boss wants efficient, and effective – Quality and Quantity Under stress – Boss doesn’t get either

Workstation Vacation : Workstation Vacation How? – Have massage therapist come to office for afternoon. In a Perfect World Or learn some simple techniques from this class.

Take Time : Take Time Take time to breathe everyday – whether you meditate, or just listen to calm music. However you can fit it in. If it is over lunch or a break, just take the time to fit in 10 deep breaths.

Get Up : Get Up Ok, you’ve been at the computer monitor all morning – get out of your chair, walk around, don’t look at the computer screen for 5 minutes. All those pixels dancing in front of you and all of the electromagnetic frequencies increase your stress levels – get away from it for 5.

List : List Thinking and trying to remember all the stuff that you have to do increases stress Make a list, add to it throughout the day – help to remember, and help reduce stress

Move : Move Exercise helps increase endorphins , making you feel happier, and also works off stress. Walk around the workstation – do stretches in the breakroom. March in place, do toe touches, do side bends, wiggle and or shake out your limbs.

Rub : Rub Take 5 and place right hand over left shoulder and squeeze 5 times – repeat with other side. Place index fingers at either temple and rub in small circles. Squeeze left arm with right hand – start at wrist, and up – repeat other side

Tools : Tools Keep tennis balls in your drawer - not too hard, not too soft Put pair of tennis balls on either side of spine in lower back – lean back in chair Rub over pelvic ridge Put in crook of neck and lean back

Drink : Drink Drink ½ your body weight in oz of water Try a relaxing herb tea – Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer or Healthy Habits Stress Tea Blend Lay off caffeine – not relaxing

Ask : Ask We can’t always ask for help at work from others, but we can take a quick second to ask for religious guidance – whoever you believe in – God, Buddah, Alah, Great White Spirit, The Universe…etc

Envision : Envision Make Goals for where you want to be in 10 years Imagine them Envision it happening Having a place to go makes the trip easier

Blessings : Blessings Count Them Gratitude Leads to Serenity

Don’t Worry : Don’t Worry Worry is a waste of time and energy Use the energy to do great things
