Subject a few of/some of/both of the cats (plural) Verb are (plural)  GRAMMAR & STRUCTURE Simple Sentences     A simple sentence, also called an independent clause, is a sentence that has one subject and one verb. The cat is black.   subject + verb   A simple sentence: is a group of words combined to make one complete thought. begins with a capital letter and ends with a period. may be short or long. shows plural / singular agreement between the subject and the verb. has pronoun agreement between the subject and the pronoun(s) referring to the subject.
