April, 2010 1 Bowen & Collinsville Chaplaincy NEWSLETTER ISSUE # 10 The School Chaplain’s are always encouraged by the Prayers that are continually going up on their behalf. It is wonderful to know that we all believe for God to be the main focus of our Ministry in the Schools. From week to week we see the hand of God doing wonderful things in our Schools and this has a flow-on effect into our community, Churches and Youth Groups. God is moving and your prayers are being answered. I was delighted to hear from a Parent, recently who was “more than happy” for prayer on their child’s behalf who is in hospital. A highlight for us this year was that Chaplains’ along with the RE Teachers and any other school persons who wanted to attend, were invited to a “Combined Churches Prayer meeting”, where each ministry and person was prayed over. It was great to see all the Churches believing and supporting each person that plays a role in our Schools, starting from the Principals down to the Chaplains.(2 Chronicles 7:14,15). There are various “School Prayer Groups” that are run at each School. Please feel free to attend any or all of these if you have the time. They are: BSHS – Staff & Family, Thursdays 8 -8:20am (in D21) BSHS -Student Prayer Group, Tuesday 8-8:30am in the Library (See Grace Power for more info – RIGHT) CSHS –Prayer Group Thursday mornings 8-8:30am QBSS Prayer Group, Wednesdays: 8:00am to 8:30am Once again each week we are going into battle, so we ask you all to PRAY for the Chaplaincy Service in your area, whether it be corporate or private devotion it is appreciated and welcomed. If you would like to receive our weekly, “Prayer and Praise Points” via email, please send your request to Kal, Oral and Damian “GOD Richly Bless You” PS when we are unable to do anything else we can always PRAY. (Oral) Friday Lunchtimes at Bowen High are seriously fun with the high energy “Impact” program! SU volunteer Jason Van Vuuren is doing a fantastic job with a team of volunteers. Games, competitions, prizes and of course a relevant message that will challenge young people to look beyond themselves to see a future of hope that God has planned for them. Every Thursday afternoon at Bowen High, students from various year levels participate in a unique after-school program called “Science, Origins & Faith” SOF is an interactive look at the scientific evidence for intelligent design. Is there evidence of design in living things or did we just evolve randomly? Multi media presentations, handson experiments, discussions and a free afternoon tea are all part of this successful program – just another way that school chaplaincy is providing specialised support for students in our schools. Big thanks to McDonalds Bowen for their donation of an esky & marquee for SU & community events. They are also supplying gift vouchers for Chappy week events. Awesome!
