WSLS, ISES and WSAS Pre-ID : WSLS, ISES and WSAS Pre-ID WSLS includes WSNs and student directory data required for student matching purposes. WSLS is used as a starting point for ISES.
ISES was implemented in March 2005 and is being used to meet ESEA report card requirements, AYP disaggregation, and as many other mandates as possible.
WSLS and ISES include many of the same data elements required by the WSAS Demographic Data Collection (Pre-ID and Handcode).
Four data elements will be added to ISES in fall so that all WSAS requirements are met. These data include: Migrant status, Section 504, Longterm US Student Indicator (English language proficiency level 1-2 only), Testing Status
The separate electronic WSAS Data Collection is eliminated. Beginning fall 2005, WSLS/ISES will be used to create WSAS Pre-ID files.
Keeping WSLS Current : Keeping WSLS Current Districts must keep WSLS current so that all students enrolled in WSAS tested grades will have a WSN and will be assigned to the correct school for testing and accountability purposes.
New WSLS records are required when students are new to your district and when students are new to a school in your district
Keeping WSLS current will be especially important in September because these data will be used in September as the starting point for ISES and the starting point for WSAS Pre-ID files.
Keeping WSLS current in October and November is also important so that new students and students moving between schools after September will have WSNs and correct school assignments. We hope to produce a second batch of Pre-ID labels for these students in early November for districts to place on test booklets. This will reduce but not eliminate handcoding of WSNs and other WSAS data.
