Orange Grove Texts Plus (OGT+) : Orange Grove Texts Plus (OGT+) Goal -make open textbooks available for postsecondary general education courses UPF - official publisher of Florida’s postsecondary system Integrated Book Technology- on-demand printer ..a partnership between The Orange Grove Repository and the University Press of Florida (UPF)

Benefits to Faculty : Benefits to Faculty The textbooks are all free to examine and download online, at www.theorangegrove.org. Wide dissemination of scholarship Most books on the site are peer reviewed. OGT+ textbooks can be inserted into any LMS. Searchability for scholarly research, which should increase a work’s visibility. Allows instructors to create, update or adapt materials for the “best” fit for their students. OGT+ texts can be ordered by bookstores for course adoptions, if so desired.

Benefits to Students : Benefits to Students Electronic versions of all OGT+ textbooks are available at no cost, saving cash-strapped students a significant amount of money. Portability: once downloaded, the textbooks can be accessed on any type of computer, e-reader, or PDA. Flexibility: students can choose to have the free e-book, print out select portions, or purchase a paperback copy for a fraction of the cost of traditional textbooks. Use as needed - no time limits or restrictions.

Collaborations : Collaborations Class testing of Statistics and College Algebra this summer at 5 schools. WebAssign– on–line homework, testing, and tutorials for math, science and behavioral sciences. WebAssign is working directly with OGT+ on Algebra, Statistics, and Calculus. UF create texts for Calculus 2311, 2312, 2313 ($100 savings for each student) Physics On-line course offerings with Lon-Capa, a free modular course system.

Status : Status Collaborative Statistics reviewed by Florida faculty for STA 2023 College Algebra – need paid reviewers UPF will continue to add more of its older titles, extending the life of these books and making many of them available in paperback for the first time. Ten campus workshops have been conducted during Oct 2009 through March 2010. Three workshops conducted in partnership with Hewlett Foundation for faculty on how to adapt, use and advocate for open access textbooks.

How to get involved : How to get involved Select an OGT+ text for your next class – log on or call UPF at 352-392-1351 Submit a text for submission and peer review to John Byram at John@upf.com Serve as a class tester for selected texts in OGT+ Create supplemental materials to accompany an OGT+ text. Adapt an existing OGT+ text for your classroom needs – contact John Byram for details Serve as peer reviewer for OGT+ GenEd texts
