On the first page
You will see the Hostess Book Chart – if as we go through the catalog and you find that you want everything or spend $100 I encourage you to think about having a party. This month Special is:

We don’t have thousands of active consultants in the US. There is plenty of room if you want to work 12 hours a months or 10 hours a month. I’d like to talk to you.
On the second page
The next two pages explain a unique feature of Usborne Books. The Internet Linked and Internet Referenced Book. There are over 300 of these books in this catalog. This is the Science Encyclopedia (you can show your favorite IL books) Internet linked books provide you with web sites designed to enhances the information presented on the page. These are guaranteed websites. If you go through www.usbornequicklinks.com type in the Key word from the inside cover of your book and the page number, you will be connected to the website. It is important to go through Usborne quick links because the websites are reviewed and if one becomes in effective it is blocked and another is provided. Our Internet Reference Books are for younger children. They do not out to the worldwide web but to a site where they can match, watch, listen to or do something related to the topic of the books. Isn’t that amazing!
Pages 4 to 11 are Value Packs! These are great ways to save money. There is a red bar with stars on the edge of all of these pages. I would like to tell you about the best and worst set.
The BEST is on page 7 The Internet-Linked Reference Set. You can buy these 3 Encyclopedias for $99.95 or if you would like our 4th Encyclopedia – The Ancient World, you can buy the 4 book set of $120.00. These books are for 3rd grade and beyond. (Personal note my daughter in High School Still uses them) I would like to mention a great gift set. It is the on page 8 the Great Searches Set of $29.99. These books are wonderful gift for those unexpected birthday parties and you get 4 good gifts for under $30!
The Worst is on page 9 – The Easy words to Read Set. The books are fabulous but they are price wrong in this set.
On pages 18 & 19 are the Combined Volumes. This is the First Book of Knowledge Show your favorite – (Amanda shows FYT with CD) These are our Best Sellers and will save you a lot of money
Do you have a gift drawer for those unexpected Birthday parties or activities for rainy days & bored children? Pages: 24 to 37 are for you. Most of these kits come either in a plastic bag or a box. They include the complete book and everything you need to do the activity. The plastic bag has Velcro on the flap and is great to keep all the pieces together. The box usually gets thrown away.
As we proceed through the rest of the Catalog it may be overwhelming there are 1500 separated titles. I will be here to help you with your selections and answer any questions after this presentation
Pages 56 -63 are for Babies and Toddlers and have a green edge. Please turn to page 56 & 57 these are our well know Touchy Feely books (show your favorite pull on the book to show how strong the book is) They are double Board books. Fairfax County public Libraries, the largest public library system in the country, ordered $1,500 in board books and sent a letter to the company stating these are the only Board Books that last.
Preschool & Kindergarten are the pink edge pages 63 to 73. On page 66 you will find There’s a Mouse About the House (show the book all the way through) this is a slot book – it is fun, works on fine motor skills and introduces the left to right motion of reading. Remember I told you about the poorly price set? Please turn to page 64. The English language is made up of 46 sounds based on vowel sounds. These are our phonic based readers there are 12 books in this set. If you can I would suggest you get all 12. To save money I suggest you buy Ted and Friends this (show the book) is 4 of the stories bound together for only $9.99.
If you are looking for beautiful storybooks that will captivate young ones and be family treasures, please turn to pages 70 & 71. (show On the Moon or your favorite)
Readers begin on page 74, Accelerated readers, IR & IL (explain) These first 2 pages are our IR books. These books are leveled and in the back of the book the reader can go to Usborne Quicklinks where they can match, watch, listen and do activities related to the topic. These are an outstanding value at $4.99 and include nature; science and social studied most of these books come in hardback. (show your favorite)
Level 1 Readers have few word and larger print (show your favorite red spine book) Level 2 Readers have a few more words and smaller print. We have our true Chapter books which usually are 200 pages or less. Our retold classics which tend not to be checked out in libraries are written in language children can understand and include pen and ink drawing. If the child likes the book they will have an understanding of the story and can read the original book.
On page 89 & 90 you will find our Great searches (show your favorite) these are great for the reluctant reader. Numbers are written not numeration. There is a lot of reading around the edges. These books are enjoyed by 8 to 15 year olds. (although my son has loved they since he was 4) For younger children we have the 1001 Things to Spot series (show Big Book of Things to Spot). These books take numbers beyond rote counting, as well as numeration & matching. Using a Quilt marker a child can write all over these books and with in 24 hours the ink will disappear and will not leave stain. They are available at fabric stores and Walmart.
Usborne is very strong in the area of Art, crafts, cooking and early skills. Pages 92 & 101 show these types of books. These art books make tremendous gifts. Stories of Shakespeare makes a wonderful gift.
We have Princesses, Pirates, Dinosaurs, Knights, Hands On, Things that Move, and Languages on their own pages.
On page 117 I would like to show bring you attention to the second best value in the catalog. The Children’s Encyclopedia in the reduced size is $14.99. This book is IL for the preschooler to the 6th grader and presents a wealth of knowledge. If you have a child who is really into one of the topics at the top of that page such as Dinosaurs, first encyclopedias are for you. Both of these books have unbelievable photographs are at a great price and provide a depth of knowledge.
On the same page you will see the Illustrated Dictionary of Math. (show the book) This book is IR and covers math concepts of numbers, geometry, algebra and handling data. (my daughter says it changes math into English and she still uses it in advance math in high school)
When you are done shopping you make take advantage of our Customer Specials for the month for each $35 you spend. (show flyer and mention one or two related to your customer audience)
