Slide 5 : EATING OUT AT MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT
I like to eat out. I go to a restaurant with my husband at least once a month.
Our favorite restaurant is located in a beautiful hotel in our town here in
Southwest France. The hotel has a bar, a terrace, and a large dining room.
We usually order the house special. The last time we ate there, the house
special was French onion soup, duck breast with gooseberry sauce and new
potatoes, and salad of fresh dandelion greens. We ordered a bottle of red
wine to go with our meal. For dessert, I had chocolate mousse, but my
husband ordered the tiramisu with strawberries.
I highly recommend this restaurant. However, if you want to go, I advise you
to reserve a table in advance. It’s a very popular establishment and it’s
always full.
Slide 6 : EATING OUT AT YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT
(Listen carefully to your classmates!)
1. How often do you eat out?
2. Who do you go with?
3. Can you describe your favorite restaurant?
(Is it located in the city or in a small town?/Is it noisy or quiet?/
Are there candles on the table?)
4. What do you like to order when you go there?
5. What's the service like?
6. Do you have to make reservations?
Slide 7 : Here is the response.
What is the question? 1. Which wine do you recommend?
2. Do you have a smoking section?
3. What is the house special today?
4. Do you take Visa?
5. Could I see the dessert menu please?
6. Are you ready to order? Yes, I’ll bring it to you right away.
Today the chef has prepared
a local sea bass carpaccio style,
with asparagus, coconut and parsley.
I’m sorry, sir, but you will have to sit
on the terrace.
d. The Château Lafitte would go perfectly
with your meal.
We need another minute. We haven’t
decided.
No, ma’am, I’m afraid we take cash only. Would the customer or the
waiter/waitress ask this question?
