VII. Course Description:
A study of the life, works and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero and the martyr.
This course underscores the triumphs and failures of Jose Rizal. It traces the hero’s concept of education, good government, and nationalism as embodied in his writings, particularly the Noli and El Fili and other relevant writings.
Finally, this course unveils some untold stories about the hero.
VIII. Course Objectives:
To critically understand Rizal’s heroism;
To admire Jose Rizal both as an ordinary and extra-ordinary person;
To trace the development of the concept of education, good government, and nationalism as contained in the different writings of Jose Rizal;
To unveil some controversial and untold stories about Jose Rizal, including the retraction issue.
To realize the significance of Rizal’s ideas in the present time.

Weighted Average = Computed Grade X .60 + Final Exam X .40
