Develop young talents from Canada through a professional and cultural experience outside the country; Provide leadership pipeline to Vale in Canada for positions with no successors identified; Bring Vale’s Way of doing things to our organizational culture in Canada; Create capacity for young talents to face different challenges in a mining industry.

Slide 8 : Premises The Program will have 1 year duration in total: 8 months in Brazil and 4 months in Canada 20 Canadian participants The interns will be recruited in Canada and will go straight to Brazil for the first 8 months During the time in Brazil the participants will be Vale-AIESEC interns Once trainees are back in Canada they will become Vale employees

Slide 9 : Candidate Profile Graduated 0 – 3 years Different backgrounds, such as: Business, Accounting, Engineering, Economics; Leadership profile; previous AIESEC leadership experience is highly recommended Fluent English, Portuguese is a plus Global Mobility; able to re-locate to Brazil and then within operations in Canada Canadian Citizens or permanent residents only External candidates (Non-current employees).

Slide 11 : Development Courses 2 months in Brazil The Interns will be in training and development courses for the first 2 months of the program. The first week will be spend in Rio de Janeiro, at corporate headquarters where the interns will learn about the various functional areas, meet managers and colleagues and start their development plan. Partnering with top educational institutions, interns will gain an overview of the mining business, be provided with management and leadership tools as well as have various field trips and site visits to supplement their learning.

Slide 12 : On-The-Job Training The Interns will be in on-the-job training in Brazil, located in one of Vale’s LoBs in the country for 6 months of their program; The specific area in Brazil must be defined by Vale in Canada and have a correlation to the final area where the intern is going to work once he/she comes back to Canada. Once the interns come back to Canada, they will go to on-the job training in the operations in Canada, in order to get to know the country’s reality in terms of operations; After the interns experience both operations (Brazil and Canada) they will be placed in their final position in Canada. 6 months in Brazil 4 months in Canada

Slide 13 : Additional Development Actions Mentoring provides an opportunity to clarify goals and expectations during their first experiences in Vale. A mentor will provide a broader understanding of the business and support to excel in their area. Interns will be educated on the benefits of mentoring, and how to manage a mentorship relationship. Interns will be assigned mentors Mentors will be educated on how to be a mentor. Mentoring could support the intern to be ready to step into a leadership role in the future. Interns will meet at the end of the on-the-job training in Brazil to participate in a workshop; This workshop will be an opportunity for the interns to present their areas, responsibilities and challenges; Interns will then participate in a case study challenge (using real and current business challenges) to test their theoretical and practical knowledge; Case studies should then be presented to Vale experts to judge and provide feedback; This forum will serve as an opportunity for interns to share experiences, challenges and to learn about areas outside of their on-the-job training; Experiences can also be shared regarding cultural challenging experienced in their role; Virtual Community – it will be created to provide a virtual cooperation environment for interns to exchange their experience and learning process during the on-the-job training, adding value to the Experience Workshop.
