After independence in 1947, Pakistan was ruled under the Indian Independence Act, which was an amended version of the Government of India Act. A constituent Assembly was set up to frame a new constitution.

Quaid-e-Azam formed a constituent Assembly to form the constitution; CA set up a basic principle committee ; 25 members; its findings were known as the Objective Resolutions.; it was passed on 12th Mach 1949;faced criticism.
