REVIEW CHART FOR AS-SALAH This chart is meant to be followed with Dr. Dremali’s classes “Fiqh of Worship”, as he offers a detailed explanation of the acts of Salah from the book Fiqh us-Sunnah. Dremali Foundation for Education www.dremali.com CONDITIONS “Shuroot” PILLARS “Rukn” REQUIREMENTS “Wajibat” RECOMMENDED ACTS “Sunan” Prerequisites or conditions needed before beginning the Salah. If any of these conditions are not met, the Salah is not valid. Acts required inside the Salah. If any of these pillars are left out intentionally, the Salah becomes invalid. If any are left out by mistake, the Rakah becomes invalid. Acts required inside the Salah. If any of these acts are left out intentionally, the Salah becomes invalid. If any are left out by mistake, the Rakah becomes is invalid. Acts that were performed by the Prophet in the Salah. It is highly recommended to perform these acts as the Prophet said “Pray as you see me pray.” Islam Sanity Reaching the age of understanding Removal of ritual impurity (Having Wudu) Removal of Najasa (filth) Covering the Awrah Entering the prayer in it’s proper time Facing the Qiblah Intention Standing, if one has the ability to do so The opening Takbeer Reciting Surat al-Fatihah Bowing Rising from bowing Prostrating on all 7 limbs Rising from prostration Sitting between the two prostrations Remaining tranquil during all acts Maintaining the same sequence The final Tashahud Sitting for the final Tashahud Sending Salat on the Prophet The first Tasleem All the Takbeers except the opening Takbeer Saying “Subhana Rabbi al-Adheem” while bowing Saying “Sami’a Allahu Liman Hamidah” Saying “Rabbana wa Lakal-Hamd” Saying “Subhana Rabbi al-A’la” while prostrating The first Tashahud Sitting for the first Tashahud Raising the hands Placing the right hand over the left hand Placing the hands on the chest The opening supplication Saying Ameen after al-Fatihah Quranic recitation after al-Fatihah Reciting specific Surahs Lengthening the first Rakah of the morning prayer Beautifying your voice when reciting Quran Reciting out loud in the first two Rakat of Fajr, Maghrib and Isha Reciting in a moderate voice Making the Takbeer upon moving from position to position Manners of bowing and Dhikr Manners of prostration and Dhikr Supplications between the two prostrations Sitting of rest (after second Sujood and before standing up again) Supplications after the last Tashahud and before the Tasleem The second Tasleem Words of remembrance after the Tasleem Missing a Pillar or Requirement by Mistake -Making Sujood as-Sahu • If one misses a pillar or requirement by mistake and remembers while still in the same Rakah, one must perform the act immediately then make Sujood as-Sahu before Tasleem. • If one misses a pillar or requirement by mistake and remembers after finishing the Rakah or Salah, one must redo the entire Rakah then perform Sujood as-Sahu. • One performs Sujood as-Sahu before Tasleem if they mistakenly miss a pillar or requirement, and one performs Sujood as-Sahu after Tasleem if they mistakenly add a pillar or requirement.
