Forming Participles In Latin there are 4 different kinds of participles--2 in the active voice and 2 in the passive voice. In order to form the participle you must know which stem to use, in other words which of the 4 principle parts you look at to find the proper stem. For the present active and the future passive it's the 2nd principal part (present infinitive).
