The Prophet’s Empowerment
The First Migration to Abyssinia
In the 7 month of the 5th year a group of companions migrated
They stayed for 10 years
11 men, 5 women
Among those where Uthman (the 3rd Caliph) and his wife Ruqayyah (the Prophet Muhammad’s (SallahuAllah Alayhe wa sallam) daughter
In Pursuit of the Muslims
The Quraysh sent Amir bin Al As and Abdullah bin Abi Rabi’a after the Muslims
They brought gifts and treasures for the Abyssinian King and his chiefs as a means of persuasion
Demanded the Muslims that fled be returned to the Quraysh
Some chiefs were persuaded
The King of Abyssinia
His name is Ashamha bin Abjar (also known as Najashi or Negus)
Negus is a providence in which he ruled over in Abyssinia
Abyssinia was a large embodiment of land cover what we know today as, Ethiopia and surrounding areas.
Christian
Was not persuaded, wanted to hear both sides, was fair and just
Refused to return the Muslims
Accepted Islam
Hamza and Umar
Hamza, beloved Uncle of the Prophet Muhammad (sallaAllahy Alayhe wa sallam), was a fierce warrior
In the 6th year, the Uncle of the Prophet (sallaAllahu Alayhe wa sallam), Hamza and Umar bin al Khattab accepted Islam (3 days apart)
Islam was empowered by them embracing Islam
This is the same time the Muslims were no longer secret and prayed openly at the Ka’aba
The Prophet (SallaAllahu Alayhe wa sallam) made a dua to Allah: “Oh Allah, give strength (might) to Islam by Abu Jahl or Umar bin Al Khattab”
The Might of Islam was Umar bin Al Khattab
At this time Islam had grown, 40 + Muslim men, and 11 women.
