Slide 2 : An Experience Episode 3 My Pain Is Understood

Explore Biblical truth for yourself!
Learn how to discover what God wants to know
about the suffering of Jesus you
An Experience : More than Easter eggs—
The events of Easter happened over 2000 years ago.
Today the Easter Experience raises an important question
for each of us.
What if everything then changes
everything now? An Experience
A few points on Process : A few points on Process We are gathering in a virtual classroom and actual classroom here at West Park. We will learn together to make this work!
We will open in prayer.
Translation will be needed at times to make sure all words and meanings are clear. Please be sure to ask Sharon for a translation so she can direct Sam or Hungta to help out.
We will .have a Discussion, a Scripture Verse Study
with Key Words.
We will close in prayer.
After each class we will send you a brief Review to complete.
A few points on the Virtual Classroom : A few points on the Virtual Classroom If any of you in Minnesota want to:
use the whiteboard or
want to speak
you can use the “Raise Hand” feature.
You select the feature over your name and choose “Raise Hand”.
We will respond and fit you in with the discussion or
grant you use of your whiteboard.
Only one location can use the whiteboard at a time.
OK—let’s begin!
Discussion : Discussion 1-Take a moment to pause and reflect on what you have just see before beginning with the questions.
2-The physical agony and suffering is very graphic in this episode. Do you ever think about the unjust suffering that Jesus experienced? Can you think of any kind of suffering to which Jesus cannot relate? How has that impacted you after seeing this video? What are your feelings at this time?
3-Have you found yourself wondering why God doesn’t intervene in some of the painful experiences of life?
4-Kyle’s conclusion is that God understands how you feel, even at life’s worst. Do you agree or disagree with Kyle’s conclusion? Why do you agree--or--disagree? Do you think Jesus knows how you feel? Does He truly relate to whatever hardships you are going through?
5-At the beginning Kyle asks the question, “If there really is a loving God then why does He allow so much suffering in the world? This is perhaps the world’s most difficult question. It would be foolish for us to imagine that we are capable of wrapping “a neat little bow” around a satisfactory answer. However, whether you feel it or not, how can the realization that God understands your pain bring you comfort?
Scripture Verse Study : God Speaks To Us By Jesus
Hebrews 1:1-4
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and many ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.

Slide 8 : Jesus Calls Us Brothers
Hebrews 2:10-11
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers.

Slide 12 : Cultivating a Missional Life- Taking Your Experience Home
During the coming week read and memorize Isaiah 53:5 NIV
Jesus knows how you feel. God knows the pain of losing His only Son.
• In your mind exercise connecting Philippians 4:7 NIV to a real life situation.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus,” with the concept that not only does God understand your pain, but He understands
you better than anyone in your life ever will.
• Pray that Christ will walk with you through your pain and not allow it to grow into bitterness.
• When His children cry, God cries too.
• Knowing that He knows, and knowing that He cares makes all the difference.
After the pain and suffering of the cross came the joy of the resurrection.
• This week remind yourself that we are “co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings
in order that we may also share in his glory” (Romans 8:17b NIV).
• Remember…”suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character,
hope. And hope does not disappoint us…” (Romans 5:3b-5) Post Gathering Reflections “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
