Introduction to Gimp Agenda 1. Introduction to the Gimp Environment (5mins) a. In this section we will introduce the gimp environment and go over where everything is as well as how to open a new document. 2. Gimp Tools (10mins) a. In this section we will show how to use the basic gimp tools 3. Photo Editing (20mins) a. Here we will begin to work on photos in terms of applying filters, cropping, editing color, and removing imperfections. Some discussion of file formats and saving will occur. 4. Individual Project 1: Editing (15mins) a. Select a photo and apply some of the editing effects mentioned. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Take time to get familiar with different tools. 5. Sharing individual projects (510mins) a. For people who wish to share their work, we will be going over what people have tried and giving each other pointers and encouragement. 6. Photo Manipulation (2530mins) a. As far as photo manipulation goes we will refine our use of filters, use brushes to create different effects, use more advanced selection tools to create a blended image as well as working more with text. b. We will be looking at how to create the following: i. Icons ii. Web Banners iii. Computer 7. Individual project 2: Manipulation (20mins) a. Create a photo manipulation. Use what you have learned during the session to create an icon, web banner, computer background, or something that you find interesting. 8. Sharing what we’ve learned. (510mins) a. Those who wish to share will display their creations. We can give a lot of encouragement and a bit of constructive criticism. Everyone is at different levels, but everyone has more that they can learn. 9. Where to go for more tutorials and resources and goodbyes. (5mins)
