Chapter I : Chapter I Part I: Salvation

Salvation : Salvation Questions we’ll answer What is salvation? Why do people need salvation? Once Saved, Always Saved? *What is the difference between saved and unsaved? What are the steps of salvation? How do you know when you are saved? How do you lead a person to Christ? What is the prayer of Salvation? *How young must you be to accept Christ?

Salvation : Salvation Two things we must accept There is life after death There is a heaven and a hell When looking for answers, we must hear… What man says What the apostles said Finally, what did Jesus say

Salvation : Salvation What is salvation? Salvation is the free gift of a Holy God to a sinful world. Salvation is liberation from sin. Salvation is being saved from hell and damnation. A conscious decision to live a life pleasing in the sight of God “Get out of hell free card!!!”

Salvation : Salvation Why do people need salvation? Salvation is the key to entering the Kingdom of God John 14:6  Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Salvation : Salvation Why do people need salvation? Salvation is the key to entering the Kingdom of God *If a person does not go to church, can they still go to heaven? Yes, but why wouldn’t you want to go to church?

Salvation : Salvation Why do people need salvation? Salvation changes the heart, the mind, and every part of the person. We become new creatures. II Corinthians 5:17 “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Man says: No. You are saved as long as you live holy and righteous Argument: James 2:14 “Dear brothers and sisters, what’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone.”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Response: James 2:15-16 James 2:14 “Dear brothers and sisters, what’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone. 15Suppose you see a brother or sister who needs food or clothing, 16and you say, “Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Man says: Yes. No matter what you do you will go to heaven, as long as you confess and believe. Argument: Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned; and come short of the Glory of the Lord.”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Response: Matthew 5:8 “God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Jesus says: John 14:6  Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 10:10 “I come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly”

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Final Answer: Yes We can never be clean enough to deserve eternal life. So we can never, in turn, lose it. The Christian is convicted of sins and as they grow in Christ, the urge and desire to sin lessens.

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Final Answer: Yes Ephesians 2:8-9a “God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” Salvation is God’s gift to us. What we do with it is our gift to God We are constantly striving to please the one who gave us such a gift.

Salvation : Salvation Once Saved, Always Saved? Final Answer: Yes John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believeth in Him should not parish, but have everlasting life.” Therefore, everyone is saved. But only those who believe will enter the kingdom.

Salvation : Salvation What are the steps of salvation? Step 1 “Believe” BELIEVE that God loves you and wants you to have eternal life. Step 2 “Turn” TURN away from your sin and turn to God. Step 3 “Look” Look to Jesus Christ as the only provision for forgiveness of your sin. Step 4 “Trust” TRUST in Jesus Christ to come into your life and make it complete. By faith receive Him as your personal Savior.

Salvation : Salvation What are the steps of salvation? Step 1 “Believe” BELIEVE that God loves you and wants you to have eternal life. John 3:16 “…whosoever believeth in Him…”

Salvation : Salvation What are the steps of salvation? Step 2 “Turn” TURN away from your sin and turn to God. Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation : Salvation What are the steps of salvation? Step 3 “Look” Look to Jesus Christ as the only provision for forgiveness of your sin. Romans 5:8 “For it was yet while we were sinners that Jesus died for us.”

Salvation : Salvation What are the steps of salvation? Step 4 “Trust” TRUST in Jesus Christ to come into your life and make it complete. By faith receive Him as your personal Savior. Romans 3:22-26 “We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.”

Salvation : Salvation How do you know when you are saved? When you accept Jesus as your personal Savior. You lose the desire to live the way you used to. It is a gradual process It is an instant decision, but a life-long journey, with eternal consequences.

Salvation : Salvation How do you lead a person to Christ? First of all; realize that you are the church, not the building. Everyone is a minister in their own right. Don’t wait till Sunday to lead someone to Christ

Salvation : Salvation How do you lead a person to Christ? Don’t allow the usual responses I am waiting to get my life right. You will never get your life together I want to be sure it is the right thing to do. Don’t wait until you are sure. It is easier to walk away from God, then to never walk towards him at all. I am not worthy. And you never will be. I am not ready What are you waiting for? I want to wait until I am ready to live right It won’t even matter, if you are not saved.

Salvation : Salvation How do you lead a person to Christ? Get them to… ACKNOWLEGE…that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 “All have sinned.” REPENT your sins and be heartily sorry. Mark 1:15 ““At last the time has come!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Turn from your sins and believe this Good News!”

Salvation : Salvation How do you lead a person to Christ? Get them to… BELIEVE…Believe that Christ is the son of God and that he died for your sins, and that He rose on the third day. Romans 10:9 “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

Salvation : Salvation How do you lead a person to Christ? Get them to… RECEIVE…Christ as your personal Savior. John 1:11 “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
