Social Media is, at its most basic sense, a shift in how people discover, read, and share news and information and content. It's a fusion of sociology and technology, tranforming monologue (one to many) into dialog (many to many.)
Blog (def) - (short for weblog) is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public viewing. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
Microblogging (def) – very short blogs
Social network aggregator (def) – an application (usually a website) that manually or automatically collects article feeds – usually as titles or summaries – from other websites.
