Slide2 : Do you believe you need and would benefit from training about students with disabilities? According to a study in 2002, so do 88 faculty members surveyed. On their ability to teach, supervise and accommodate students with disabilities in clinical settings, faculty rated themselves 2.53 on a scale of 1 to 6. (Sowers & Smith, 2004)

Slide3 : Sixty-one faculty knew current or former nurses who experienced disabilities. Sixty-three faculty currently had or previously had students with disabilities. The study concluded that faculty attitudes toward nursing students with disabilities serves as a barrier to these students (p. 217).
