McClelland’s Need Theory:Need for Achievement : McClelland’s Need Theory:Need for Achievement Need for Achievement - a need that concerns individuals’ issues of excellence, competition, challenging goals, persistence, and overcoming difficulties
Need for achievement (n-achievement) : Need for achievement (n-achievement) It is the extent to which people want to perform challenging or difficult tasks on a high level.
Slide 6 : McClelland asserted that a person’s needs are influenced by their cultural background and life experiences.
A person’s motivation and effectiveness can be increased through an environment, which provides them with their ideal mix of each of the three needs (N-Achievement, N-Power and/or N-Affiliation).
