Outbreak Research Project on Communication through Skype : We received an e-mail about this. The text follows below.
My name is Eva and I am a researcher at the Psychology Department at Goldsmiths, University of London. My colleagues and I are working on a project that is looking at improving online communication through the use of some new features for Skype calling and chatting.
Information about group dynamics, patterns of communication (e.g., who communicates most and with whom), group member’s emotional states and locations are usually missing when people communicate via telecoms. These new features would make this kind of information visible, helping groups of people to communicate more efficiently and effectively.
All this information will be graphically provided through an add-on for Skype.
All we will ask you to do is installing the add-on (completely safe) and accessing the information it provides for the whole period of the course . This will allow us to test its features and functionalities in a real context.
In order to do that, we would also ask you to fill in some questionnaires, through which we cancollect some feedback from you.
Participants will be rewarded with £60 for their time from our research budget.
This is a purely research activity without any commercial interest.
