Usually Fourier Series is taught as applied to individual intervals. This makes the students struggle to remember separate formulas for different intervals. Here, a general formula is given with two examples.

Slide 1 : Fourier Series on a General Interval Dirichlet Conditions A function f(x) can be represented by a Fourier series if (1) f(x) is periodic, single-valued and finite, (2) f(x) has a finite number of discontinuities in each period and, (3) f(x) has at the most a finite number of maxima and minima.
