What it is : What it is Network Interface layer encompasses the Data Link and Physical layers of the OSI model An unreliable Network Interface layer is assumed, and reliable communications through session establishment and the sequencing and acknowledgment of packets is the responsibility of the Transport layer.

Concerns of this layer : Concerns of this layer Is to specify characteristics of transmission medium the nature of the signals the data rate related matters

Slide4 : Also concerned with the exchange of data between an end system and the network to which it's attached used to connect differing network types.

Functions performed by this layer are : Functions performed by this layer are Encapsulation Mapping Level mapping Data Mapping Memory mapping Virtual Mapping
