Cell and its basics…. : Cell and its basics….
Cell Theory : Cell Theory cell theory was developed by three scientists: Theodor Schwann, Matthias Jakob Schleiden.
All living things are made up of cells.
Cells are the smallest working units of all living things.
All cells come from preexisting cells through cell division.
Definition of Cell : Definition of Cell A cell is the smallest unit that is capable of performing life functions.
Slide 4 : Cell….
Slide 5 : Unicellular organisms are made of one cell only
The cells of multicellular organisms are specialized to perform different functions
e.g. mesophyll cells for photosynthesis and root hair cells for water absorption
Levels of organization : Levels of organization Cells are grouped together and work as a whole to perform special functions
Tissue : Tissue A group of similar cells to perform a particular function
Animals : epithelial tissue, muscular tissue
Plants : vascular tissue, mesophyll
Organ : Organ Different tissues group together to carry out specialized functions
Heart : consists of muscles, nervous tissue and blood vessels
Leaf : consists of epidermis, mesophyll and vascular tissue
System : System Several organs and tissues work together to carry out a particular set of functions in a co-ordinated way
Human : digestive, respiratory, excretory, circulatory and reproductive systems
Plant : root and shoot systems
Different kinds of plant cells : Different kinds of plant cells
Different kinds of animal cells : Different kinds of animal cells

Stem Cell : Stem Cell A cell that has the ability to continuously divide and differentiate (develop) into various other kind(s) of cells/tissues
Apoptosis!!! : Apoptosis!!!
Information relay.. : Information relay.. Protein synthesis
Transcription
Translation
Protein sorting
Immunological property of cell.. : Immunological property of cell..
Methods of transport across cell : Methods of transport across cell Diffusion
Osmosis
Active transport
Passive transport
Vesicle mediated
Plant cell culture : Plant cell culture
Animal cell culture : Animal cell culture
Cell-cell interactions : Cell-cell interactions Physical connections between cells
Cells in multicellular organisms are in contact
with each other and extracellular matrix
Cell connections involve multiple ligands and
cell adhesion receptors
Plant Cell Adhesion and Plasmodesmata : Plant Cell Adhesion and Plasmodesmata Adhesion between plant cells is mediated by their cell walls rather than by transmembrane proteins.adjacent plant cells communicate with each other through cytoplasmic connections called plasmodesmata (singular, plasmodesma), which function analogously to animal cell gap junctions
Animal Cell metabolism : Animal Cell metabolism

Cell signaling in plants : Cell signaling in plants Response to stimuli
Response to phytohormones
