University of Santiago de Compostela is one of the oldest in Spain and in Europe (from 1495). It is a public institution with 45,000 students and 2,000 teachers/researchers in 24 Faculties/Schools focused to Classical Sciences and Humanities. Faculty of Mathematics (created in 1958) has 900 students and 80 teachers/researches. http://www.usc.es.
Institute of Mathematics was stablished in 1996 by members of the Faculty of Mathematics. Current personnel: 70 researchers. Scientific Committee: 10 members. Their activity is concentrated in training and research on applied and pure mathematics as a tool to solve technical, organizational and economical problems. Research groups: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research, Pure Mathematics.
