So to recap from what happened before: You each represented separate zones or territories existing in what used to be a country called Egypt after a major global nuclear war. Nothing is as it was before the war. The world consists of a few radiation free areas where millions of varying types of refugees have moved to. In the land of the Nile, you have 8 major groups that have resettled and are trying to put their lives and peoples back to a state of normalcy. Sunni, Shiia, Catholics, Jews, Armenians, Greeks, Nubians and Coptic Christians all now call Egypt home. No one group is a majority, all have been victims of the war in one way or another. The map on the whiteboard will clarify the zones to those who either forgot or were absent when we did this. The representatives of these groups (you) were tasked with establishing their own systems of government and leadership, basis of their laws, deciding on who’s responsible for courts and army amongst other things. Some of you allied with one another, some chose to remain unaligned, or independent. For those that missed last online class last Thursday, below is what you were supposed to email me. (Title it: ‘Your Name’ - Assignment # 1, or 2 etc.) Assignment # 1: Last time, I tasked each zone or territory, with deciding on what they would do if one of their neighbors experienced a rebellion that threatened their zone’s government. What would you, as the leader, do? If you chose to do nothing then, you needed to have explained why so. Assignment # 2: Secondly, I changed the game a little bit again by stating that you all had unified (whether you like it or not!) and now must explain to me how this new unified land of so many different groups will organize its government and leadership systems. Will one zone lead the others in the Union’s government, or will there be some division of power? How will you all decide on how to choose your new leader? So for those who were absent last time, please turn these in soon. I understand you have exams soon, so let me know by email if you have any major problems.
