I. Abram to Abraham. (Genesis 17) A. The true Hebrew spelling is Avraham or Ab Hamon = Father of a multitude. 1. Taken from "Abr" or "Abar" = to fly like birds, and "Hem" = they. Message of name is "Fly they will!" 2. God has no physical body or wings but has an attribut of them in Psalm 36:7. Man is made in His image and should have wings too. At least, when man is done growing. 3. Hamon (see above in Letter 'A' = Large noisy crowd, crying aloud B. To sum it all up, God says that Abraham was the Father of a large, crying, noisy crowd who cut a covenant with God. II. Abraham -the father of many nations. A. No way to be Christian and be prejudiced at the same time. 1. "Many nations" automatically reveals that all are included. 2. Here we experience Galatians 3:27-29 in early scriptures! B. What is the Promise? 1. At the age of 99 Abraham is visited by God. Divine Appearance. 2. He was told to walk before God and be perfect. When God speaks, it will happen. 3. The Promise/Covenant is in Genesis 17:1-10 God even changed His name as proof of the Covenant. Names mean a lot. a. We should respect names and titles. The sin comes when someone forcefully tries to earn a title. They have to be given not taken. 1. Abe. didn't work for it or try to earn it. It was a gift. 2. U can attend classes to strengthen the gift not to receive it. 3. Your way of life will verify your righteousness. III. Righteous people: Enoch, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Deborah, David, Moses, Gideon, Solomon, Aaron, Sampson, Job Elijah, Daniel, Priscilla, Esther, Eli, Samuel, Abel, Stephen, Apostle Paul, Rev.
