Compound words are single words that are made up from two other words. For example, the word "butterfly" is made from the two words "butter" and "fly". You can combine nouns (a flatmate), adjectives (lovesick) or verbs (jump-start) to make compound words.

When the compound noun is one word, the plural is formed by adding s/es to the end of the word
