Slide 2 : Quest - By Celli 7/14/91
I am the Child of Life and Love, in the House of Death
all Changes before me
I bring Life to Death and Death to Life.
Who am I?
I am the child of Sun and Moon, An agent of change,
Life and Death walk with me
Hand in hand through eternity
What am I?
I stand on the triple Cross of life and death and rebirth
everything changes around me
where do I go from here?
Great Teacher, Where do I turn to know the road
From here to there?
Song – Hawk Brother
Slide 3 : Overview
Shamanic Spiritual Transitions and the Wiccan Novice
Much has been said, and by many on the Path of the Wise, on how one's life falls apart after entry into the Craft. Some subsequently get things together again; many do not. Proper understanding of the spiritual consequences of entering and walking the Path is necessary to determine what challenges await the student and how to cope with problems attendant on dedication to a spiritual path.
Slide 4 : Often, novices are drawn to Craft - as a way of handling incipient life conflicts they may have been avoiding. Personal evolution, dissatisfaction with one's life, or simply reaching the limits of one's coping abilities are factors in interest in the magickal aspects of Wicca. The magnetism of the spiritual aspects of Craft as possible solutions to personal problems is most often a reason. Many students are drawn to magick at a time when their first use of personal power has caused negative consequences in their personal lives.
Slide 5 : Thing to know – Self Transformation
is that confidence and the exercise of any sort of personal power, magickal or otherwise, can be counted on to draw fire from those who count on you to sabotage yourself, give away your power, or be powerless.
beginner magick increases confidence, shit increases with display of confidence, power, and results, taking shit reduces confidence, and without confidence, magickal power is reduced. In other words, power, like many other facts of life, is measured by the strength of its opposition.
Life dysfunctions must be personalized as a very real battle for primacy. Will the student overcome, or will her thoroughly unsatisfactory life overcome her?
The price for liberty is, indeed, eternal vigilance. Challenges come from both without and within, and from unexpected areas. The main area of challenge from within is that of correcting mistakes from one's former way of life, one's old path.
