The Trees … the Sky… the Sun and the Lake A human being asked a question, "What will give me peace; the tall trees that shade me and give me fruit, the sky that helps me wonder as I bath in its blue, the lake that feeds and cools me, or the sun that warms me?" First to answer were the tall trees. We are the most important. Without our shade the sun would devour you. We create the oxygen you breathe and the peace that you seek. The second to answer was the infinite blue sky. I am most important. Without me, you would have no protection from the sun and space above me. When you gaze into my soul, I have the peace you seek. The sun replied quickly, I am the most powerful therefore the most important. Without me nothing would exist on your planet. I can create life with my rays and destroy it at an instant. Through power you will attain peace; nothing can hurt me so therefore I am at peace. The lake loomed with a sigh, waves rumbling and its arms splashing for attention. Ahhh, human being; you can find wisdom in my timeless waves, fish in my seas and coolness in my breath. I can also give you peace. The human gazed into the infinite blue sky to ponder the question and the answers given. As the human lay in the shade under an apple tree, waves pounding on the shore, a lake breeze ... warmed by the sun, gently covered him like a soft blanket, the human being ... fell asleep.
