Mary Wollstonecraft1759-1797 : Mary Wollstonecraft1759-1797 “The Mother of Feminism” Born in to a society mostly dominated by men. Wollstonecraft devoted her life to enlightening women to push equal rights for men and women in education and in parliament representation.

A Diamond In The Ruff : A Diamond In The Ruff Unlike most women in Wollstonecraft's age who were in the shadows of men, Mary strived for power and respect from those who look down upon her sex. Mary was determined to make her own living. She found that relying on men to better womens lives was degrading. Although she worked as a general companion and governess. She was able to establish herself as a writer with her book Rights of Women.

“I do not wish women to have power over men; but power over themselves.” : “I do not wish women to have power over men; but power over themselves.” Mary’s most important book, Vindication of the Rights of Woman, led to an awakening within many societies of women's rights and abilities. She believed the education system forced women of her time to live in stiff idea of feminism. Through her work she urges women to think of a role that would able them to be independent. She believed that all women were rational being and could take care of themselves.

Wollstonecraft’s Theories : Wollstonecraft’s Theories Mary proposed that parents should stop raising daughters to be domesticated. She encouraged girls to be from an early age to develop their minds to be rational. In doing so she believed they would be able to exercise their rationalism into entering the same Professions as men. She also believed that both boys and girls could benefit in being taught together. Learning together would not only teach differences and understanding but they would gain in life.

A Vindication of the Rights of Woman : A Vindication of the Rights of Woman Setting high standards for women, Mary spoke against those who had low opinions of women’s intellectual potential. Wollstonecraft believed that women could manage the same businesses that men did with the same abilities. If given the chance they would also be able to excel in politics.

Hyena in Petticoats : Hyena in Petticoats Wollstonecraft’s philosophies brought ideas and new practices to women and men around Europe. People were taken a back by one women’s believes and courage to take a stand against a male dominated society. Slowly she made her way into the minds of middle class women to take a stand and live for a better life.

: Mary also wrote many other books to bring awareness to women’s rights. Some of those Include A Vindication of the Rights of Man, and The Education of Daughters. Both brought a emphasis on education of women. Another major topic in her works were of social system of women. Mary wollstonecraft

A League of Their Own : A League of Their Own Mary was not the only women to bring feminism into society. Many others would follow her to press a movement upon their society. Like Joan of Arc she went against the grain to make a change for the future.

Family Woman : Family Woman Although Mary had a rough childhood, she herself found a husband, William Godwin. She had two children before her death in 1797.

Simply a Woman : Simply a Woman Mary strived for in life equality for all. Feeling left being in an unjust social system she cried for women’s rights, an equal education system, and civil opportunities. Although she would never see to live a level playing field world she dreamed of she lived to start the fire.

I have not the least expectation that I can now ever know happiness again." William Godwin said about Mary after her death. After giving birth to her daughter, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly, she died of puerperal fever. Mary Wollstonecraft

Ripple Effects : Ripple Effects After Mary Wollstonecraft death many people started to take hold of her ideas. Although it took more than 100 years Mary’s ideas and beliefs are now used around the world. Women now have equality that was never before open to them.

Women’s Rights : Women’s Rights Today boys and girls of all ages are able to learn together in a co-educational setting. Together in classes they are taught the same curriculum as a whole.

Women in Politics : Women in Politics Women today are some of the most powerful politicians in America. Women are accepted and welcomed in filling positions such as Senator, National Security Advisor, and even President
