There are many ways of developing your vocabulary. Having the knowledge of the prefixes and suffixes is one of them. As English is a hybrid language it is good to know the meanings of words from other languages like Latin and French which are frequently used in English.

Learning the vocabulary of English : Learning the vocabulary of English There is a very clear relationship between vocabulary size and professional success. How many English words do you know?

Word Formation : Word Formation Prefix Stem Suffix Immeasurable measure measurable react act action unhappy happy happiness Prefix = changes the meaning of a word e.g. im- changes the meaning to the opposite: immeasurable Suffix= changes its parts of speech e.g. –able changes the verb into adjectives (breakable, enjoyable)
