Lesson Plan Level 3 Topic Aim Language Focus Skills Lesson 5 Expressing feelings To enable students to express their feelings Verbs + –ing or infinitive Speaking, listening, writing Out There – real world Out There – VoIP Find a place close to the school where lots of people are sitting down relaxing, like a small park or a square. Tell students to use VoIP to call some conversation partners. # Details Task Sheet Minutes 1 2 3 4 5 6 To introduce the task, tell the class what you like doing and what you don’t like doing at the weekend. Use example of infinitive and –ing. Ask them to do the same, write some answers on board and highlight any mistakes. Correct and explain aim and task. Give out Task Sheet 1. Students make and ask questions around the class. Help with pronunciation. Make a list on board with phrases that express positive and negative feelings. Explain the meaning of more verbs as you add them to the list. Give examples, while the students listen and put each verb in the –ing or infinitive box. Check and drill. Students to ask each other questions in pairs, then tell the class the other person’s answers. Give out Task Sheet 2. Exercise A: students rewrite sentences keeping the meaning the same. Check answers and help with pronunciation. Exercise B: students complete the statements. Write a paragraph about the most interesting person. Feedback: Ask how it went and what was interesting or funny. Ask students to talk about the most interesting people and to list their favourite new expressions of the day. Ask if they feel confident with the language taught and get positive feedback.
