How to resize photos using Paint Did you know….that large files take up lots of space and are slow to load? Resizing allows you to upload your photos more quickly, display more quickly on the screen and use less space on your server. How to resize photos using Paint (Windows version) 1. Start your computer (PC only – not MAC) 2. Click on the Start button 3. Go to All Programs, select Accessories, then click on Paint 4. Click on File /Open…and navigate to where you stored the picture on your computer 5. Click on the picture to select it, then click on the Open button 6. Click on the Image menu and select Attributes….to check the original size of the photos. Make a note of the width and height (eg: 500pixels x 635pixels) 7. Click the Cancel button to close the window. 8. Click on the Image menu again and select Stretch/Skew 9. Determine what size you want the photo to be (eg: 100 width = 1/5th original = 20%) 10. Type the new % into both the Horizontal & Vertical Stretch sizes (eg: 20%). This will ensure the picture remains at the same ratio (eg: not too tall & thin or wide & fat) 11. Click on File, Save As to save it as a separate file (you might want the original size photo for printing) 12. Rename the file (eg: same name but with 100w added to indicate the smaller size 13.
