Sources of Food : Sources of Food There are two sources of food
Plants Animals
Slide 5 : Plants are the sources of food ingredients like grains, cereals, vegetables and fruits. Which part of plants are edible (eatable) ?
Slide 6 : We eat many leafy vegetables. We eat fruits of some plants. Sometimes roots, sometimes stems and even flowers.
Some plants have two or more edible (eatable) parts.
Ex: Seeds of mustard plants give us oil and the leaves are used as vegetable. Note: Do not try to taste unknown plants around you to see if they are edible! Some plants could be poisonous.
Slide 7 : Do you know where honey comes from, or how it is produced? Bees collect nectar (sweet juices) from flowers, convert it into honey and store it in their hives.
Slide 8 : Animals provide us with milk, meat products and eggs. Cows, goats and buffaloes are some common animals that give us milk. Have you ever thought of what animals eat?
Slide 9 : Herbivores, such as cows and chicken, eat only vegetables.
Carnivores, such as lions and tigers, eat only meat.
Omnivores, such as humans and foxes, eat both vegetables and meat.
