Slide 2 : Zero Index x0 = 1 Examples: 20 = 1 (-6)0 = 1 40 = 1 -80 = -1 Raise to the zero power first: 80=1 then take the negative. Note: 00 = undefined

Slide 3 : Fractional Index Examples: x1/2 = vx 271/3 = cubed root 27 = 3 xm/n = What is 43/2 ? Answer: 43/2 = 43×(1/2) = v(43) = v(4×4×4) = v(64) = 8
