Human Anatomy : Human Anatomy Module 3: The Integumentary & Skeletal Systems

Matching : Matching

The Integumentary System : The Integumentary System Made up of the skin and the appendages of the skin: The glands The hair The nails

The basic structure of skin : The basic structure of skin Keratinized cells papillae epidermis dermis

Dermal Papillae : Dermal Papillae The dermal papillae allow for maximum blood flow to the basement membrane. This helps the epidermal cells get the nutrients they need.

Why do we scar? : Why do we scar? If a cut is along the skin’s lines of cleavage, there is not much tension on it… So the cut can heal quickly with little scarring If a cut goes across the lines of cleavage, there is tension… Pulling it apart making it harder to heal and more likely to scar

How burns affect the skin : How burns affect the skin

Tissue present in the hypodermis : Tissue present in the hypodermis

Function of sebaceous glands : Function of sebaceous glands Secrete oil

Function of sweat glands : Function of sweat glands Secrete sweat

Epidermal layers : Epidermal layers

In what layers of the epidermis are the cells still alive? : In what layers of the epidermis are the cells still alive? Stratum spinosum Stratum basale

Melanocytes & skin color : Melanocytes & skin color

Structures of the skin : Structures of the skin nerves hair sweat pore blood vessel loop in dermal papilla sweat duct sweat gland vein artery adipose tissue sebaceous gland hair follicle hypodermis dermis epidermis

Hair Follicle : Hair Follicle

Three sections of hair : Three sections of hair

Slide 17 :

Bone Classification : Bone Classification Yellow bone marrow is found in the medullary cavity

Five functions of the skeletal system : Five functions of the skeletal system support protection movement storage hemopoiesis
