Slide 1 : Also continuous disuse of wings in flightless birds like ostrich and kiwi has resulted in their reduction and weakness. Do you think their children have got it from them?

Slide 2 : Lamarck's inheritance of acquired characters has never been substantiated by experiments. Certain experiments and views put forward by many noted scientists discredited Lamarck's theory

Slide 3 : The use and disuse theory of Lamarck met with strong objections. If his 'use theory' is correct then the heart which is continuously put to use should have increased in size subsequently in generations.

Slide 4 : . What evidence do we have for evolution ?

Words of Charles Darwin : Words of Charles Darwin Who said this……. “Evolution is descent with modification”.

Evolution is a gradual transformation Do we have a proof ? : Evolution is a gradual transformation Do we have a proof ?

Convergent evolution : Convergent evolution Group of organism which inhabit regions with similar climatic conditions tend to look and function similarly though they may not be closely related.

Separate line of evolution Similar structures which allow them to adaptor exploit similar environment : Separate line of evolution Similar structures which allow them to adaptor exploit similar environment

Two related or similar ancesters develop independently towards new species with similar charactersParallel evolution of sabertoothed cats : Two related or similar ancesters develop independently towards new species with similar charactersParallel evolution of sabertoothed cats

Slide 10 :

Divergent evolution : Divergent evolution Populations of a common ancester Split due to reproductive isolation E.g., Two species of Grand Canyon squirrels

Two species of squirrels evolved from one originalspecies when the Grand Canyon formed and causedreproductive isolation of the two population : Two species of squirrels evolved from one originalspecies when the Grand Canyon formed and causedreproductive isolation of the two population
