MOTION : MOTION Is this cow moving?
Surely Not!!
MOTION : MOTION And now??
You’ll surely say yes!!
MOTION : MOTION How do you know that something is moving?
It’s simple! If an object changes its position as the time passes, then it is said to be in motion.
But a slight confusion??
MOTION : MOTION You must have sit on a train. When you see outside you see many trees moving back.
What!! Trees Moving??
MOTION : MOTION Yes! After all, there position also changes when you see them. So according to the definition they are also moving.
But how can a tree move??
MOTION : MOTION Its very simple! Motion is relative in nature. It can be different for different observers.
A person sitting on a tree would see a train moving south to north. At the same time another person sitting on the train would see the tree moving north to south.
Who is correct??
MOTION : MOTION In fact both are. To counter this problem, lets decide an imaginary point which is stationary and if any thing moves according to that point, we will consider it moving.
Such a point is called as reference point.
Thus we conclude……..
MOTION : MOTION If a body changes its position with respect to a reference point, as the time passes, it is said to be in motion.
Motion is relative. A body in motion for someone may not be in motion for the other.
There is nothing in the world which is at absolute rest or motion.
MOTION : MOTION A B
You have just seen three particles moving from point A to B.
What is the difference between these three cases?
What is common in these cases?
